²⁰Then the mother of Zebedee’s sons came to him with her sons, kneeling and asking something of him. ²¹He said to her, “What do you want?”

She said to him, “Promise that in your kingdom these two sons of mine may sit, one on your right hand and one on your left hand.”

²²But Jesus answered, “You^[a] do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink?”
